About the Test
A Lexiscan is a type of stress test that is used for people who may find it difficult to exercise on a treadmill.
You will be attached to electrocardiogram (EKG) and blood pressure monitors and an IV will be started in your arm. The Lexiscan will be given through the IV and then you will be asked to sit and wait while the medication takes effect. This medication is used to mimic exercise.
Once the medication has begun working, you will be asked to lie down and pictures will be taken of your heart. The pictures will show blood flow to and from the heart and possibly any blockages.
We will capture pictures of your heart at rest (before the medication) and after stress (after the medication has taken effect).

The test will take about 3 hours to complete.
After the Test
Once the test is complete you will be able to drive home. The physician will review the test, and the results will be provided to you at your next appointment or by phone.
